What are car speakers?
Car speakers are variations of loudspeakers especially designed to work in vehicle audio applications. Although they share many similarities with home stereo loudspeakers, they differ in several areas: coaxial speakers are more common, they use a different speaker impedance (typically 4 ohms or 2 ohms vs 8 ohms for home), and include additional design features for vehicle installation.
2-way and 3-way car speakers are commonly called component speakers which are mounted separately unlike home stereo speakers. As vehicle audio applications may require use in harsher environments, moisture-resistant speaker driver dome or cone materials are often used as well.
